SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball forward Johnny O'Neil was named to the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District team, as announced by College Sports Communicators (formerly COSIDA). 

A marketing major, O'Neil posted a 3.676 cumulative GPA in the classroom while also turning in an impressive debut season with the Broncos. As the lone player to start all 33 games, he was the team's top rebounder at 5.5 boards per game while finishing third in scoring at 11.0 points per game. The Miami Shores, Fla., product tied for the team lead with 21 double figure scoring outings, including a streak of 11-straight games through conference play with 11 or more points. He also tallied a team-best four double-doubles. 

The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Men's Basketball teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. O'Neil was also selected as a finalist for CSC Academic All-America honors and will be included on a national ballot that will be voted on by CSC members. First, second and third-team All-Academic honorees will be announced on April 17, 2024.
