KUTNO, Poland – Santa Clara softball upcoming senior
Morgan Salmon won a Bronze Medal at the U22 European Softball Championships as part of the Great Britain U22 Women's Fastpitch Softball team last week.
Great Britain defeated Czechia 5-4 in the medal round to finish six spots higher in this year's European Championships than when they last played in the same tournament back in 2022 where they finished ninth.
The U22s road to the Bronze Medal got off to a slow start with a pair of opening round losses to Italy and France. However, they bounced back with back-to-back wins over Germany and Austria to advance to the Super Round. After falling in the Super Round opener to The Netherlands, Great Britain defeated Israel and Czechia to make it to the medal round in a rematch against Czechia.
Salmon was part of a 14 player roster and her third straight year representing Great Britain. She played on the Great Britain Women's Senior National Fastpitch Team in the summer of 2023 along with fellow Bronco teammates
Cameron McGinnis and
Hannah Edwards.
The two-time All-West Coast Conference second team selection finished this year's European Championships tied for second on the team with five stolen bases.
