Volleyball Adds Gretchen Reinert To Coaching Staff

SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Santa Clara University women's volleyball program has hired Broncos alumna Gretchen Reinert as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the 2025 season. The 2021 graduate returns to the Broncos after coaching stints at UNLV and Stanford. Head coach Erin Lindsey made the announcement Tuesday.

"We are so excited to welcome Gretchen back to our program," said Lindsey. "She has done an exceptional job as a young coach leading the recruiting at UNLV and I am so excited to see what she can do here at her alma mater. Gretchen will be a great resource for our passers and floor defenders. She is a natural leader and will bring great competitive spirit to our squad."

Reinert returns to her alma mater after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for UNLV. Initially joining the Rebels in 2023, she helped guide the team to the 2023 National Invitation Volleyball Championship (NIVC) and coached the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, Isabel Martin. Following the success of her first season, Reinert was promoted to the program's recruiting coordinator for the 2024 season, and helped the Rebels land the No. 42 class in the country for 2025.

Reinert was a volunteer assistant coach for Stanford for the 2022 season prior to her tenure at UNLV. In her lone season on The Farm, she helped guide the team to an appearance in the NCAA Regional Finals, which was the program's highest finish since 2019.

"I am extremely excited to be coming back to my alma mater and to coach alongside head coach Erin Lindsey," Reinert said. "Erin was a major factor in my decision to pursue coaching, so being able to learn and grow under her is a dream come true. I am grateful for my student-athlete experience at Santa Clara and look forward to providing the same experience to the young women of Santa Clara Volleyball. I would like to thank Erin Lindsey for providing me with this opportunity as well as Athletic Director Heather Owen for her support of hiring Broncos Alumni and vision for Santa Clara Athletics as a whole."

Reinert played for both the indoor and beach volleyball teams at Santa Clara from 2017-21. During her time with the Broncos, she racked up 871 career digs indoors and was a three-time West Coast Conference All-Academic honorable mention selection for both indoor and beach. She graduated from SCU in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in communication and a minor in retail studies.

Upon graduation, Reinert used her final year of eligibility to play the 2021 season at BYU for the Cougars' indoor volleyball team. After her playing career was over, she shifted her focus to coaching and pursued a master's degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine, which she earned in the spring of 2023.

A native of Dove Canyon, Calif., Gretchen is the daughter of Jeff Reinert, the head basketball coach at the College of Southern Idaho.
