STOCKTON, Calif. – Redshirt freshman Mahir Khurana opened play for the Santa Clara men's tennis team with two qualifying round matches and an extra match at the ITA Regional Championships on Thursday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In the first match of the day, Khurana defeated Sacramento State's John Powell in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.  He then dropped his next qualifying match to Portland's Lucas Kimelman 6-1, 6-3.  Khurana also played an extra match, falling to Oregon's Russell Soohoo 6-2, 6-2.
