Box Score CORVALLIS, Ore. – A slow start doomed Santa Clara women's basketball in a 68-51 defeat at Oregon State Thursday night. The Broncos (14-14, 8-10 WCC) didn't get their offense going until midway through the second. Despite that, they were able to get within seven of the Beavers (14-14, 10-7 WCC) in the second half, but a late run put some distance in the final score.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- A tough first quarter saw Santa Clara score just six points on 3-of-15 shooting. Oregon State took advantage with two 6-0 runs and an 8-0 run to close the period with a 20-6 lead.
- Neither team could get their offense going in the second quarter with the first points coming at the 5:23 mark by the Beavers. The Broncos finally got on the board at 4:08 but found themselves down 31-16 at the half.
- Things started to turn around in the third and a 6-0 run midway through cut the deficit to 10. After the deficit grew back to 14, a 7-0 run for Santa Clara, with Olivia Pollerd scoring all seven, put them down just 41-34 with just over two minutes left in the quarter. Both teams scored four more and the game headed to the fourth 45-38.
- Oregon State started the fourth on a 6-0 run and stretch the lead out to as many as 18 with back-to-back 3-pointers later in the period to put things away.

NOTABLE NUMBERS:
- Santa Clara shot 30.9-percent on the night, but just 21.9-percent in the first half, while going just 4-of-21 from deep, including 1-of-13 in the first half.
- Oregon State shot 40.3-percent for the game and was 8-of-24 from beyond the arc.
- Pollerd led all scorers with 21 points and added five rebounds. Kaya Ingram scored 14 with four rebounds and three assists and Georgia Grigoropoulou scored seven with a team-high seven boards.
- Five Beavers accounted for all but two of Oregon State's points with AJ Marotte's 18 leading the way. Kelsey Rees and Kennedie Shuler added 13 each with Sela Heide scoring 12 and Catarina Ferreira chipping in 10. Heide led the team with nine rebounds and Shuler had seven assists.
