Softball Headed to Tucson Regional in First-Ever NCAA Tournament Appearance

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara University softball team is headed to the Tucson Regional in their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.  The Broncos earned the West Coast Conference's automatic bid to the tournament after clinching their first WCC title on Saturday.

The Broncos heard their name called during the 2025 NCAA Softball Selection Show on ESPN2 as part of a special watch party held on the Mission Campus.

Santa Clara will play the 13th overall seed Arizona on Friday, May 16.  The Tucson Regional will also feature Grand Canyon and Ole Miss.  The full Regional schedule will be announced later.

The Tucson Regional is one of the 16 campus sites for the Regionals that runs from May 16-18.  At each site, a four-team, double-elimination tournament will be conducted and the 16 winning teams will advance to the Super Regionals (May 22-25).

Under the direction of sixth year head coach Gina Carbonatto, the Broncos had a historic season with a program record 32 regular season and 11 WCC wins.  SCU won all five WCC series this season, setting another program record, including taking the season finale series against Oregon State to secure the first berth to the NCAA Tournament in the program's 46 year history.

This is the program's second conference championship, having been crowned the Pacific Coast Softball Conference champions in 2004.
