SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara softball players Taryn Clements and Hannah Edwards has been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District.
The 2025 Academic All-District Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom.
Clements and Edwards along with other select All-District honorees are now considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
Clements - an All-West Coast Conference First Team selection, the WCC Defensive Player of the year and WCC All-Academic Team member – has a cumulative grade point average of 3.814 majoring in neuroscience.
The sophomore from Seal Beach, California did not commit a single error in 172 chances playing exclusively behind the dish defensively. She had 144 putouts and 28 assists while throwing out 12 of 34 would-be base stealers for a 35.3 caught stealing percentage. The 12 runners thrown out was the second highest mark in the league.
At the plate, Clements finished in the top-10 in the WCC in eight different offensive categories – on-base percentage (eighth, .422), runs (ninth, 31), hits (10th, 46), RBIs (tied for seventh, 32), doubles (tied for seventh, 10), walks (tied for sixth, 24), sacrifice bunts (tied for second, eight) and sacrifice flies (tied for second, four).
Edwards, also an All-WCC First Team selection and a WCC All-Academic Team honoree, has a 3.981 GPA while pursuing a master of arts in counseling psychology.
The San Jose, California native, posted a 9-5 record with a 3.22 ERA and one save. She made 28 appearances and started a team-high 17 games with two of those coming in the WCC Championship clinching series against Oregon State.
She finished in the top-10 in the league in ERA (fifth, 3.22), opposing batting average (ninth, .275), innings (sixth, 115 1/3), strikeouts (sixth, 85), wins (tied for sixth, nine) and saves (tied for fourth, one).
It is the first CSC Academic All-District recognition for Clements and the second for Edwards.
