FRESNO, Calif. - Santa Clara women's volleyball encountered little resistance Friday night, sweeping the Fresno State Bulldogs at the Save Mart Center.
Layla Truitt and
Selin Aslayan led the way with 12 kills each, while Truitt hit an astounding .706, the first Bronco to hit over .700 since Jensen Cunningham hit .706 vs. Stony Brook on Sept. 3, 2016.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Fresno State (2-4) scored the first three points of set one, but the Broncos responded scoring five out of six points capped off by a kill from Layla Truitt to tie the set at nine. The Broncos kept it rolling, scoring seven of the last eight points including six in a row to take set one off a kill from Selin Aslayan, 25-18.
- The Broncos (2-5) scored the first two points of set two, and later scored four in a row after a kill from Cate Shanahan to take a 10-7 lead. The Broncos again scored four in a row to take a 19-12 lead. The Bulldogs answered, scoring four straight of their own to force a Santa Clara timeout.
- A service ace by Jenna Legault capped off five of six points for the Bulldogs to cut the lead to 23-22. A Fresno State kill tied it at 23, but the Broncos scored the final two points with kills from Grace Flanagan and Macy Hinshaw to take set two, 25-23.
- The Broncos scored four in a row to take an 8-5 lead to open set three after a kill from Aslayan. Three straight points for Santa Clara made it 12-7 after a Truitt kill, and 15-9 heading into the media timeout. Seven straight Bronco points made it 22-10, and another kill from Aslayan gave the Broncos a 23-11 advantage. A kill from Flanagan and an attacking error from the Bulldogs gave Santa Clara the sweep, 25-14.
NOTABLE NUMBERS:
- Layla Truitt led the Broncos with 12 kills, hitting an astounding .706, the first Bronco to hit over .700 since Jensen Cunningham hit .706 vs. Stony Brook on Sept. 3, 2016.
- Selin Aslayan also posted a new career high with 12 kills, to go along with a new career best four service aces.
- Macy Hinshaw added 31 assists, tying her career high of four kills.
- Lexi Trapani led the team with 17 digs, her sixth game of the season in double figures.
- Santa Clara handed Fresno State their fifth straight loss.
