SAN BRUNO, Calif. - For the second week in a row, the WCC Player of the Week belongs to Santa Clara women's basketball. This week it was Maia Jones who brought home the honor after leading the Broncos to a pair of wins.
Jones averaged 24.0 ppg to go with 3.5 rpg and 2.5 spg. She knocked down a total of eight 3-pointers while shooting 42.1-percent from beyond the arc.
The week began with a 25 point performance at San Francisco in a 77-67 Bronco victory. Jones connected on three triples in the game and went 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
She continued her award-winning week as Santa Clara went to Washington State and beat the Cougars 98-92. In Pullman, Jones scored 23 points and knocked down a career-high-tying five from downtown.
Jones joins Ashley Hawkins who won the award last week and Sophie Glancey who won it December 15.
The Broncos are back in action at home Thursday against Portland at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here.
