SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Ashley Hawkins of Santa Clara women's basketball has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week.
Hawkins had a big week leading the Broncos to a pair of wins, including a 77-73 victory Sunday against Gonzaga. For the week, Hawkins averaged 14.7 ppg to go along with an impressive 8.0 apg. She had a terrific 4.8 assist-to-turnover ratio thanks to 24 assists and just five turnovers.
Against the Zags, Hawkins had her first double-double of the season with 16 points and a career-high-tying 11 assists with zero turnovers.
On the road at LMU, Hawkins scored 14 points to go with six assists.
She began her week with 14 points and seven assists, again with no turnovers, against Seattle in a Broncos win.
This is the Broncos second weekly award this year. Sophie Glancey won Player of the Week on December 15.
Santa Clara is back in action Thursday at 6 p.m. at San Francisco.
