SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Santa Clara men's golf junior
J.P. Odland has been named to the 2026 West Coast Conference Men's Golf Preseason Team, as voted on by the league's 12 head coaches.
Odland is coming off one the most successful seasons in program history as a sophomore in 2024-25. The Tiburon, Calif. product earned All-WCC honors after helping the Broncos to just their third NCAA Regional appearance in program history. Playing in all 13 events, he posted a 70.92 scoring average - fourth lowest in program history - while tying Scott Travers for the program record of 15 rounds in the 60s. Odland also tallied 20 rounds under par, good for the second-most in program history. In 13 events, he posted eight top-20 finishes and five inside the top-10, including a pair of individual titles at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate and the Goodwin.
More recently, Odland and the Broncos competed in five fall events to begin the 2025-26 season, and the junior once again turned heads by averaging a team-best 70.80 strokes per round. He notched a pair of top-10 finishes with a tie for ninth at the season-opening Palouse Collegiate (8-under 205) and bookended the fall with a fourth-place finish at the Preserve Golf Course Collegiate (9-under 207).
Odland enters the back half of the season with the second-lowest career scoring average in program history at 71.05 strokes. He ranks inside the top five in career top 10 finishes (10), top 20 finishes (15), rounds under par (43) and rounds in the 60s (31).
As a team, Santa Clara was selected by the league's coaches to finish sixth in the annual preseason poll. The Broncos received 72 points to finish behind Pepperdine (121), Pacific (107), San Diego (99), LMU (94) and Saint Mary's (82).
Santa Clara tees off the spring on Monday, Jan. 26, at the NIT hosted by Arizona at Omni Tucson National. The Broncos will play a total of seven events throughout the spring with aspirations to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.
