SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Santa Clara University women's water polo program will welcome five new student-athletes to the roster for the 2027 season. The incoming class brings high-level competitive experience, championship backgrounds and academic distinction across multiple positions.

Taylor Chestnut, a utility player from Walnut Creek, Calif., joins the Broncos following a standout career at Carondelet High School, where she has been a four-year varsity athlete in both water polo and swimming. Chestnut helped lead Carondelet to back-to-back NCS Open Division championships in 2024 and 2025, the program's first-ever section titles, as well as the 2025 CIF NorCal State Championship. The 2025 team finished 16–1 and was ranked No. 1 nationally during the fall season.

She is a four-time USA Water Polo Outstanding Academic All-American and an eight-time NCS Presidential Scholar Athlete Award recipient. At the club level, Chestnut owns multiple Junior Olympics podium finishes and back-to-back top-10 national results with Diablo Alliance in the 16U division. In swimming, she was named Varsity Most Improved Swimmer in 2024 and contributed to a state-qualifying 200 Free Relay at the NCS Championships.

Shea Morris, an attacker from Greenwich, Conn., was a four-year varsity contributor at Greenwich High School. She led the team in earned ejections as both a sophomore and junior and paced the team in assists during her junior season. Morris tallied 58 goals across her first three years and has been a long-time member of the NEZ ODP Nationals program, earning regional all-star recognition in 2025.

Addison Shaw, an attacker from Greenwich, Conn., arrives as a four-year varsity athlete at Greenwich High School and a starter from her sophomore through senior seasons. She earned Defensive Player of the Year honors as a freshman, added both the Defensive Player Award and Coach's Award as a sophomore, and was named team MVP as a junior. Shaw will serve as captain for the upcoming 2026 season.

As a junior, she registered 23 goals, 30 assists, 32 steals and nine exclusions in 15 games. Academically, Shaw is a multi-year USA Water Polo Academic All-American, an Honor Roll student and a member of the Italian National Honors Society.

Alexi Sueoka, an attacker from Honolulu and 'Iolani School, has been a four-year varsity starter and will captain her team in 2026. Sueoka earned 'Iolani's Overall Player of the Year award in 2025 and Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2024. A two-time ILH Second Team selection, she scored 122 career goals from her freshman through junior seasons and helped the program reach the state championship tournament in 2024 for the first time in a decade.

Sueoka is an Academic All-American and a four-year ODP Hawai'i Zone selection. Her development experience includes 6-8 All Star international training trips to Croatia (2024, 2025) and Malta (2025). She is also a varsity swimmer and has earned distinctions such as Scholastic Art Gold Key honors and a National Spanish Exam silver medal.

Keira Walters, a goalie from San Diego and Poway High School, has been a varsity leader for three seasons and a team captain since her junior year. Walters earned the Titan Award in 2024 for character and leadership, and in 2025 she was named Overall MVP and selected to the All-Palomar League team. She broke Poway's single-season record for goals scored by a goalie and later surpassed her own mark, ultimately setting school records for goals in a game, season and career from the goalie position.

Walters is a multi-year USA Water Polo Academic All-American who maintains a 4.33 GPA and participates in the College Board AP Recognition Program. In swimming, she was a 2025 CIF finalist in the 200 Freestyle Relay. At the club level, she has competed for Del Mar Water Polo Club and Shores Water Polo Club, earning an eighth-place Gold Division finish at the 2025 Junior Olympics. She is also active in community service, including volunteer work with Saint Michael's Church and fostering animals through the Humane Society.
