SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball will be in familiar territory at the upcoming
Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Championship. The Broncos are officially the No. 3 seed in the bracket and will play their first game on Sunday, March 8, at 8:00 p.m. PT on ESPN2. It is the fifth-straight season the Broncos have earned a top-four seed and the third time over the last five years that SCU will be the three seed.
The Broncos locked up third-place in the WCC after a record-setting 15-3 campaign in conference play, breaking the previous school record for conference wins of 13 held by the 1967-68 and 1968-69 teams. Led by 10th-year head coach
Herb Sendek, SCU was 24-7 overall in the regular-season, which stands as the second-most regular-season victories in program history (26 in 1968-69). The 24 victories are tied for the third-most wins overall in program history.
Santa Clara will take on either No. 6 Pacific, No. 7 Seattle U., No. 10 LMU or No. 11 San Diego in Sunday's quarterfinal round. A win would lock in the Broncos for a rematch with No. 2 Saint Mary's in Monday's semifinal round.
