Pair of Broncos Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball stars Jake Ensminger and Brenton Knapper are among the 11 players honored by the West Coast Conference on the 2025-26 WCC Men's Basketball All-Academic Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday. It is Ensminger's second-straight honor and the first for Knapper. 

Ensminger, a redshirt junior that holds a senior classification academically, has posted a 3.572 cumulative GPA in his pursuit of degree in finance. The Ulm, Germany, product has started 28 of the Broncos' 31 games this season where he has averaged 6.4 points on 52.7 percent shooting, ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.6) and leads the squad in assists (3.0). He also boasts the WCC's third-best assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.1. 

Knapper, who graduated in spring of 2025 with a sociology degree, is pursing a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership in his fifth year with the program, and has posted a 3.833 cumulative GPA. The Charleston, W.V. product has started all but two games this season, and has put together his best season as a Bronco with 8.3 points per game on 40.6 percent shooting to go with 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals per outing. Knapper has scored in double figures 12 times this season with a career-high of 22 on the road against LMU. He recently turned in a team-best 19 points on senior night against Oregon State in the final regular-season home game of his career. 

This is the fourth consecutive season that at least one Bronco has been named All-Academic, and the second straight year with multiple honorees.
