AS A JUNIOR IN 2026: Named All-WCC Second Team, WCC All-Academic Team and CSC Academic All-District ... played in 45 games, started in 44 ... made 40 starts at catcher ... batted in the cleanup spot in 18 games and fifth in the lineup in 24 games ... led the team in RBIs with 26, sacrifice bunts (10) and walks (26) ... second on the team with a .417 on-base percentage ... hit for a .273 average (30-for-110) ... came on strong in WCC play slashing .366/.500/.634 in 17 games to rank in the top-10 in each category ... hit a home run against LMU (March 28) and San Diego (April 10) ... hit first career triple on April 2 against Oregon State ... drove in a season-high four runs (April 2) ... had a .986 fielding percentage, committing just three errors in 209 chances ... had 184 putouts and 22 assists ... threw out 12 of 42 would-be base stealers for a 28.6 caught stealing percentage ... recorded a season-high nine putouts three times (Feb. 12 vs. Illinois State, Feb. 14 vs. Cal and March 15 vs. Montana).
AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2025: Named WCC Defensive Player of the Year, All-WCC First Team, WCC All-Academic Team and NFCA Scholar-Athlete ... fourth Santa Clara player to be named the league's top defender following Kelly Scribner (inaugural award winner in 2014), Ashley Trierweiler (2021) and Cairah Curran (2024) ... did not commit an error in 172 chances playing exclusively behind the dish defensively ... had 144 putouts and 28 assists while throwing out 12 of 34 would-be stealers for a 35.3 caught stealing percentage ...12 runners thrown out was the second highest in the league ... played in 50 games, started in 47 ... finished in the top-10 in the conference in eight offensive categories - on-base percentage (eighth, .422), runs (ninth, 31), hits (10th, 46), RBI (tied for seventh, 32), doubles (tied for sixth, nine), walks (tied for sixth, 24), sacrifice bunts (tied for second, eight) and sacrifice flies (tied for second, four) ... posted a slashline of .333/.422/.428 ... stole five bases in five attempts ... had 10 multi-hit games including three three-hit games ... tied for the team lead with 10 multi-RBI games ... had a 13-game hit streak and a 24-game streak of safely reaching base ... hit lone home run of the year, a solo shot, against Nevada (March 2) ... recorded a season-high 10 putouts against Saint Mary's (DH1, April 19) ... threw out a season-high three would-be base stealers against UC San Diego (Feb. 15).
AS A FRESHMAN IN 2024: Played in 41 games, started in 33 ... all 33 starts came behind the dish ... had a slash line of .240/.342/.365 on the year ... hit a season-high three hits and four RBIs including a pair of home runs against UC Santa Barbara (March 2) ... also had a home run against Boise State (March 17) ... had four-multi hit and two multi-RBI games ... had four stolen bases in four attempts ... committee three errors in 158 chances for a .981 fielding percentage ... threw out seven of 38 attempted base stealers.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2023 graduate of Los Alamitos High School in Los Alamitos, California ... in 2023 helped her team to a CIF-SS Sunset League Championship title ... named second team All-Sunset League in senior year ... named Sunset League All-Academic Team all four years ... helped lead her team to a 2023 Michelle Carew Classic Championship title and was named to the Carew Classic All-Tournament Team ... selected to the Orange County- North vs South All-Star Team ... hit .404 with a .445 OBP, a .690 SLG, and 3 home runs ... was a 2022 CIF Southern Section Division-1 Finalist ... GET TO KNOW TARYN: Majoring in neuroscience ... grew up in Seal Beach, California, and began playing softball when she was five years old ... in her free time, she enjoys cooking, surfing, and playing guitar ... favorite memory is volunteering in Costa Rica the summer after graduating high school ... parents are Mike and Debbie, an older brother, Ryan, and a bunny named Pepsi ... currently studying Neuroscience.
