Three Earn All-Tournament Team Honors

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After leading the Broncos to their first preseason tournament title at the Sheraton Four Points Arizona Invitational, three members of the Santa Clara volleyball team earned all-tournament team accolades.

Leading the way was tournament MVP, Brittany Lowe. She averaged a team-best 4.12 kills per game, while collecting 22 digs and posting five aces. Against Texas Tech, she had 14 kills, three aces and three total blocks. Against Arizona, she compiled her second double-double of the season with 18 kills and 11 digs.

Junior Nina Sevastopoulos and freshman Tanya Schmidt were also named to the team. Sevastopoulos posted a season-high .400 hitting percentage (11-3-20) against Texas Tech and then registered a season-high 16 kills against Arizona. Schmidt led the Broncos with 10 total blocks over the weekend. She posted a season-high six total blocks against Arizona and tied her season-high nine kills against Texas State.

The Broncos return to action this weekend at the Stanford Invitational. Santa Clara faces UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 4:30 p.m. The Broncos then battle the Aggies of New Mexico State on Friday, Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m. SCU closes the tournament against No. 7 Stanford on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. All three matches will be held at Maples Pavilion.
