Volleyball Has A Program Record 10 Athletes Claim WCC All-Academic Awards

SAN BRUNO, Calif- Santa Clara women's volleyball had a program record ten players named to the 2025 West Coast Conference All-Academic Honors as announced by the conference on Thursday. Lexi Trapani, Cate Shanahan, Grace Flanagan, and Alyssa Eimer claimed a spot on the 16 person WCC All-Academic Team, while Selin Aslayan, Morgan Hayes, Macy Hinshaw, Tia Kapihe, Layla Truitt, and Amy Veargason earned Honorable Mention recognition.
 
Flanagan, Trapani, Truitt and Eimer repeated after being selected to WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention last year, while all their teammates were honored for the first time. This is the third year in a row that the Broncos have had at least two honorees on the All-Academic Team, and the fourth consecutive year Santa Clara has had at least seven players receive All-Academic honors.
 
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative Grade Point Average, while also being a significant contributor to their team and in at least their second year at their school.
 
LEXI TRAPANI
Trapani carried a 3.885 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.797. After starting in all 29 games this season for the Broncos, Trapani led the WCC in total digs (450) and digs per set (3.91). She was named WCC Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week for the first time in her career, and earned a Second Team All-WCC nod.
 
CATE SHANAHAN
Shanahan put together a 3.835 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.723. Shanahan led the team and finished sixth in the WCC with 372 kills this season, while starting in all 29 games for the Broncos this season. She finished eighth in the conference with 3.23 kills per set, and was also third on the team with 202 digs. Shanahan was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 6, was selected to the Catholic Challenge All-Tournament Team, and earned a spot on the First Team All-WCC.
 
GRACE FLANAGAN
Flanagan carried a 4.0 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.970. This is the second straight year Flanagan has been honored with the WCC-All Academic Awards, after earning honorable mention honors last season. Flanagan started in 27-of-29 matches this season for the Broncos, leading the team with 94 total blocks, averaging 0.82 blocks per set. She earned All-WCC Honorable Mention recognition for the second straight season, and finished in double figures for kills in eight games this year.
 
ALYSSA EIMER
Eimer put together a 4.0 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.971. This is the second straight year Eimer has been honored with the WCC-All Academic Awards, after earning honorable mention recognition last season. Eimer played in 24-of-29 matches for the Broncos this season, finishing with 32 digs, nine service aces, and five assists in 69 sets played.
 
 
SELIN ASLAYAN
Aslayan had a 3.656 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.379. Aslayan had a career year for the Broncos playing in 28-of-29 matches this season, finishing fourth on the team with 194 kills. Aslayan recorded a career best 17 kills vs. Pepperdine on Oct. 4, and finished with nine games in double figures. She also had a career high four service aces against Fresno State on Sept. 12.
 
MORGAN HAYES
Hayes had a 3.325 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.618. Hayes played in 28-of-29 matches for the Broncos this season, starting in 20 of those, respectively. She was third on the team with 259 kills, averaging 2.42 kills per set. Hayes finished with 13 games in double figure kills, including a career high 17 on Nov. 16 at SJSU. Hayes was also selected to All-WCC Honorable Mention.
 
MACY HINSHAW
Hinshaw had a 3.312 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.346. Hinshaw led the WCC in assists per set (10.03) and total assists (1,154) this season, while starting in all 29 matches for the Broncos. She had 12 double doubles this season, while posting double figures in assists in all 29 games. She was named WCC Setter of the Week, a program record five times, and posted a career high 54 assists vs. Portland on Nov. 1, and 23 digs at LMU on Nov. 13. Hinshaw also earned First Team All-WCC Honors earlier this week.
 
TIA KAPIHE
Kapihe had a 3.925 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.645. Kapihe played in 27-of-29 matches this year for the Broncos, including 14 starts. She finished fourth on the team with 122 digs, averaging 1.24 digs per set, adding 87 kills, eight assists, eight service aces, and 14 blocks. Kapihe had a career high 14 kills against UNLV on Sept. 6, and had three games with 10 or more digs.
 
LAYLA TRUITT
Truitt had a 3.406 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.241. This the second straight year Truitt has gotten WCC-All Academic honors after also gaining Honorable Mention recognition last season. Truitt started all 29 matches for the Broncos this season, finishing second on the team in kills (287), kills per set (2.50), blocks (83), and blocks per set (0.72). Truitt had a team leading 20 games with double figures in kills, while knocking down a career best eight blocks at Seattle U on Oct. 25. She also earned All-WCC Honorable Mention honors this season.
 
AMY VEARGASON
Veargason had a 3.844 GPA in the spring term, improving her overall cumulative GPA to 3.624. Veargason played in 15 matches for the Broncos this season, finishing with six kills, two blocks, and three digs. She finished up her Bronco career after playing in one match last season and earning WCC Commissioner's Silver Honor Roll Honors.
