MALIBU, Calif. - No. 5 Pepperdine shutout Santa Clara women's tennis 7-0 in the West Coast Conference opener on Friday.
The Waves (10-2, 1-0) won their eighth-straight when Taisiya Pachkaleva clinched the match on court three over Jamie Schroer 6-2, 6-2.
Astrid Olsen and Lexi Ryngler beat Schroer and Varya Zlotnik 6-2 to secure the doubles point for the Waves.
Finley Kalinic who entered the contest having won four-straight singles matches had her streak snapped when she fell to Shiori Fukuda 7-5, 6-1 on court two. Kalinic is now 6-2 on the season.
