Tess Heal Earns Fourth WCC Player of the Week Honor

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Tess Heal was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week on Monday after leading the Broncos to a pair of wins and eclipsing the 1,000 points mark in just her sophomore season. It is the fourth award for Heal this year.
 
Heal began the week with a 29-point performance in an 83-57 victory over San Diego where she also dished out seven assists. With her 10th points of the night, she became the 28th Bronco, and the fastest ever, to reach 1,000 career points in just her 57th game.
 
She followed it up on Saturday against Saint Mary's with 15 points and six assists while going 5-of-7 from the field in a 70-58 win.
 
For the season, Heal leads Santa Clara in scoring with 18.2 ppg while shooting 47.6-percent from the field and assists with 4.5 pg. She is fourth in the nation with 135 free throws made and tied for 10th with 152 attempted. Her free throw percentage of 88.8 is 19th nationally.
 
She was also the WCC Player of the Week November 20 and back-to-back recipient on January 2 and January 8.
 
Santa Clara is already at 19 wins, the most since the 2015-16 season, and are tied for third in the conference with San Francisco, two game behind Portland for second, with a 7-4 WCC record. They play at the Dons on Thursday before returning home to face the Pilots Saturday. Tickets can be purchased here.
