MARICOPA, Ariz. - Santa Clara women's golf had a successful opening day at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, hosted by Wyoming at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes. The Broncos shot a 4-over 292 in both rounds on Wednesday for a 36-hole total of 8-over 584, good for fourth place out of the field of 21. Three Bronco individuals finished the day inside the top 30 led by
Inara Sharma, who is tied for 15th at 1-over 145.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Sharma opened the day with a 1-under 71 in the opening round. She carded five total birdies in the round.
- Meva Schmit finished two shots behind Sharma at 3-over 73-74--147 where she is tied for 24th. She had four birdies of her own in the second round.
- Kelsey Kim was the final Bronco to find herself inside the top 30 with a tie for 29th at 4-over 74-74--148.
- Patricia Garre Munoz and Audrey Brust are both tied for 43rd at 6-over 150.
- Garre Munoz had the best individual round of the day for the Broncos with a 2-under 70 in the second round. She tallied four birdies, including three-straight on Nos. 7-9, and climbed a whopping 54 spots in the standings.
- Sacramento State holds a big lead in the team standings as the lone team under par. They enter the final round at 7-under 569, nine shots ahead of Long Beach State (578).
- New Mexico State's Emma Bunch and Boise State's Leia Chung are tied atop the individual standings at 8-under 136.
