MARICOPA, Ariz. - Freshman
Kelsey Kim had yet another great day on the greens, turning in her second-straight 1-under 71 at the par 72, 6,295-yard Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club to finish the day in a three-way tie for first at 2-under 142. As a team, Santa Clara is holding steady in third place at 13-over 589 and just six strokes behind UNCW for the lead with 18 holes to play.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Kim was one of just two players among the 52-player field to shoot under par on Saturday. Her 1-under 71 was the second-best round of the day behind Arkansas State's Olivia Coit (69).
- Kim bogeyed No. 1, but was rock solid for the remainder of the round and rolled in two birdies on par 4s on the back nine.
- Kim is tied with Jacksonville State's Jinger Heath and UNCW's Minouche Rooijmans for the individual lead.
- Patricia Garre Munoz improved two strokes with a 2-over 74 on Saturday to climb up into a tie for 16th at 6-over 150. She is tied there with Inara Sharma (72-78--150).
- Meva Schmit and Audrey Brust are tied for 23rd at 7-over 151. Schmit had the best improvement of the day for the Broncos with a 2-over 74 to bounce back from a 77 in the opening round.
- The leaderboard remains the same with UNCW (583) continuing to hold a one-stroke advantage over Rutgers (584).
