BERKELEY, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's volleyball team fell 3-0 to the California Golden Bears on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, Calif.
Macy Hinshaw led the Broncos with 10 digs, recording her second double-double of the season adding 10 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Santa Clara (4-4) scored the first point with a kill from Nive Tuileta, but Cal answered, scoring the next 11 points to go up 11-1. SCU battled back, scoring five of the next six as a kill from Layla Truitt made it 12-6. However, that was close as the Broncos would get as Cal went on to win the first set 25-10.
- Cal (7-3) scored the first three points of the second set, but the Broncos again battled back scoring three points of their own, 3-3. Cal scored three in a row making it 7-4, and continued to gain momentum, forcing an SCU timeout, 12-8. The Broncos scored five of the next six taking the lead 13-12 on a Cal attacking error. A Cal service ace put them ahead 16-14, leading to another Broncos timeout.Â
- The Broncos again persevered as a kill from Tia Kapihe gave them a 19-17 lead, causing a Cal timeout. Cal retook the lead 23-22, and scored two of the next three to take the second set 25-23.
- Cal scored four in a row to open the third set up 7-3, and later 9-4, forcing a Broncos timeout. Back-to-back SCU points cut the lead to 13-10, but Cal recovered to go up 15-10. The Bears continued to roll going up 19-13, but SCU fought back as a kill from Alayna Crabtree made it 19-16, leading to a Cal timeout. Cal scored four of the next five, going up 23-17, and never looked back taking the set 25-19.
