Broncos Dominant in 3-0 Victory Over ULM

ARLINGTON, Texas - Santa Clara volleyball was dominant in a 3-0 victory over Louisiana Monroe on the second day of the UT Arlington Classic on Friday. The Broncos held the Warhawks to just .038 hitting and a season-low 19 kills while hitting .322 offensively as they cruised to their second victory of the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • Santa Clara (2-2) opened the match with a 25-15 victory in the opening set that saw the Broncos tally 16 kills on 35.5 percent hitting. Layla Truitt and Lauren Grover each notched four kills in the frame.
  • Set two saw the Broncos hit above .300 yet again (.333) with Elena Radeff pacing the team with four kills. The Broncos cruised once again with a 25-17 final. 
  • The Broncos put a pin in the match in the third and final set with a commanding 25-12 victory. 

NOTABLE NUMBERS:
  • Six Broncos finished with at least five kills in the victory. Oren Abutbul led the way, hitting .462 with a team-best seven kills while Truitt hit .667 with zero errors against six kills. 
  • Freshman Halle Reiter made her collegiate debut by starting in one of the two libero positions. She finished with a team-best 10 digs and eight assists. 
  • The Broncos had a season-high nine service aces and finished with seven blocks against just two for Louisiana Monroe (1-4)
UP NEXT:
The Broncos will conclude their time in the Lone Star State with one final match on the final day of the UT Arlington Classic. They will take on McNeese State (2-2) tomorrow at 10 a.m. PT.
