SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's volleyball fell 3-1 to the Oregon State Beavers on Thursday night at the Leavey Center. The Broncos dropped the first two sets before grinding together a third set victory only to fall in four.
Cate Shanahan led the Broncos with 16 kills, adding 11 digs for her third double-double of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Set one saw both teams go back-and-forth until Oregon State (9-4, 3-0) finally broke the deadlock, taking a 23-20 lead, and eventually taking the set 25-22.
- The Broncos scored four in a row to take a 7-4 lead to open set two after a kill by Shanahan. Six straight Bronco points capped off by back-to-back service aces from Selin Aslayan put them ahead 16-9, but Oregon State scored six of their own to cut the Bronco lead to one.
- Four straight OSU points gave them a 21-20 lead, and back-to-back kills made it 23-21. Kills from Selin Aslayan and Layla Truitt tied it at 23, but OSU scored the final two points to take set two, 26-24.
- Set three was similar to set one with neither team giving an edge. The Broncos scored three straight to take a 13-10 lead, and later 18-13 after a kill from Aslayan. Four straight from the Broncos broke the scoring open as they never looked back, scoring the final three points to take set three 25-15.
- Three straight Oregon State points gave them a 10-7 advantage to open set four. Then, the Beavers scored five in a row to take a 15-8 lead, and later 19-9. Three straight Bronco points made it 19-12 after a kill from Grace Flanagan, and another four straight points cut the lead to 23-18, but it was too little too late as Oregon State scored the final two points to take the match 25-18.
NOTABLE NUMBERS:
- Cate Shanahan led the Broncos with 16 kills, adding 11 digs for her third double-double of the season.
- Selin Aslayan had her first career double-double with 11 kills and a career high 10 digs.
- Tia Kapihe added a career high 10 digs, finishing with eight kills.
- Macy Hinshaw had her sixth double-double of the season with 38 assists and 16 digs.
