LIHU'E, Hawaii - Santa Clara women's golf finished the Rainbow Wahine Invitational tied for runner-up behind champion Baylor after turning in a 1-over 289 in Wednesday's final round to finish with a 54-hole total of 4-under 860. The total is the second-lowest in program history and was the third-straight tournament that the Broncos have finished under par.
Individually,
Kelsey Kim shot under par yet again for the third-straight day, carding a 1-under 71 in the round to finish the event tied for third at 5-under 211. It is the second-straight tournament that the junior has finished 5-under par, which is tied for the fifth-lowest score in program history. Kim has now finished in the top-five individually in three of Santa Clara's four fall tournaments.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Santa Clara held a three-stroke lead at the beginning of the day, but Baylor put together the best round of any team throughout the three-day event with an 11-under 277 to surge ahead and win by nine strokes.
- The Broncos tied with Missouri for runner-up honors. Santa Clara finished in the top four of each event during the fall.
- Kim totaled four birdies as part of her 1-under final round.
- Kim already has eight rounds under par this season, which stands as the second-most in a single season in program history and one behind Sarah Busey (2018-19) for the record.
- Additionally, Kim now has 17 career rounds under par, moving up into a tie with Claire Choi for the second-most in program history, and also just one behind the record-holder (Annie Freman).
- Audrey Brust also had a great tournament, finishing 3-under 213 after a 1-over 73 in the final round. The senior tied for eighth for her third top-10 finish of the season.
- Brust moved into a tie with Monique Riley for the fifth-most career top-10 finishes (9).
- Proud Sriwongngam also shot 1-over 73 in the final round to finish the event 3-over 219 and tied for 26th.
- Alexa Pineda tied for 38th at 6-over 222 while Chloe Lam finished her time in the Hawaiian Islands on a high note with an even par 72 in the final round to finish in a tie for 54th at 9-over 225.
- Baylor's Yurang Li shot 7-under in the final round to run away from Kim and the pack and finish with a six-stroke victory for medalist honors at 12-under 204.
