LIHU'E, Hawaii - Four Broncos shot in the 60s as Santa Clara men's golf turned in the second-lowest team score of the day in the second round of the John Burns Intercollegiate. The Broncos carded a 10-under 270 on Friday to rise two spots in the standings to fourth at 7-under 283-270--553. Santa Clara is just two strokes behind second place Long Beach State and eight shots back of Utah for the lead with just 18 holes remaining. Freshman Emil Nielsen turned in his second-straight 3-under 67 to move up into a three-way tie for second at 6-under 134.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:

Nielsen tallied six birdies in the second round to offset a trio of bogeys. He enters Saturday's final round just two strokes behind Utah's Sergio Jimenez for the individual lead.

Calder Overfelt matched Nielsen with a 3-under 67 of his own to finish the day tied for 11th at 3-under 137. Overfelt carded five birdies and was perfect on the back nine.

Matt Robles shot a 2-under 68 to climb 14 spots in the standings into a tie for 24th. The freshman is at even par after two rounds with a 74-68--140.

J.P. Odland saw the biggest improvement of the day among the Broncos, carding a 2-under 68 of his own to counter his opening day 74 and vault 20 spots in the standings to a tie for 35th at 2-over 142.
