FAIRFIELD, Calif. - Santa Clara men's golf finished the first two rounds of the West Coast Conference Championship in 11th place with a plus-6 574 at the 6,174-yard Green Hills Country Club. The Broncos shot a 2-over 286 in the first round and closed the day with a 4-over 288 second round.
Calder Overfelt led Santa Clara with a pair of even par 71 rounds and is tied for 23rd overall. No. 15 Pepperdine leads the way at 16-under with a score of 552. Ian Maspat of San Diego is the individual leader at minus-10.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Emil Nielsen and Matt Robles tied for the best round of the day for Santa Clara with a 1-under 70. Nielsen's was in the first round and Robles' was in the second.
- Overfelt and Robles each posted a team-high five birdies in a round. Robles did it in the first round with Overfelt doing it in the second round.
- JP Odland had an eagle on the 16th hole in the second round.
- Kevin Hollomon played the first round and shot a plus-4 75 before Tucker Sweeney replaced him and shot a plus-1 72 second round.
