Matt Robles is heading to the 126
th U.S. Open. The rising junior punched his ticket to his first PGA Tour event by securing one of the four qualifying spots at the California U.S. Open Final Qualifying event in Sacramento on Monday evening.
Robles carded a 36-hole total of 6-under 70-66—136 to tie for second overall at the par 71 Del Paso Country Club. After opening 1-under 70 in the first round, he shot 11 spots up the leaderboard over the course of the second round thanks to an outstanding 4-under par outing. Robles tied with fellow amateur Eric Lee of Oklahoma State and finished just one stroke behind current PGA pro Taylor Montgomery (7-under 135) for the top spot.
Robles is one of just 19 amateur players that made the field for the 2026 U.S. Open which is set for June 18-21, at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y. He will face off against the best players in the world, including fellow Bronco alum and current PGA Tour star Matt McCarty, who is playing in the prestigious major for the second time of his professional career.
