FRESNO, Calif. - Santa Clara men's golf finished up the first day of the Nick Watney Invitational in fourth place with an overall score of 588 across two rounds of action at the par 71, 6,798-yard Sunnyside CC. Freshman Matt Robles tied for 12th after carding a 4-under 67 in the opening round and even par in the second, while four other Broncos finished inside the top 25 of the individual standings. 

ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:

• Robles tallied six birdies as part of his 4-under opening round - his eighth round under par on the season. He finished the day 4-under 138 and is five strokes behind the day one leader (Pacific's Carlos Astiazaran). 

• Calder Overfelt also finds himself inside the top 20 after shooting under par in both rounds. The junior was 1-under 70 in the opening round and 2-under 69 in round No. 2 with eight total birdies over the day to finish the day 3-under 139 and tied for 15th. 

• Emil Nielson shot 1-under in both rounds to finish the day tied for 18th at 2-under 140. The freshman now has a team-high 12 rounds under par. 

• Alvaro Muller and Jack Hayden (playing as an individual) tied each other for 22nd at 1-under 141. Muller shot a 2-under 69 in the opening round that included three-straight birdies on Nos. 4-6 on the front nine. 
• Fresno State and San Diego are tied atop the team standings at 15-under 553 followed closely by Pacific (555) and the Broncos.
