SANTA CRUZ, Calif.- Santa Clara women's beach volleyball split a pair of matches on the first day of the West Coast Challenge at Santa Cruz Main Beach on Friday. The Broncos fell 2-3 to USF before defeating Pacific 5-0.

The Broncos fell in the first three matchups of the day, losing the match to USF, however, Ciara Cantlen/Alexandra Urbina won their matchup 21-14, 21-18, and Kawena Chillingworth/Ava Stoddard rounded out the match with a 21-12, 21-12 victory.

The Broncos swept Pacific for the second time this season, winning each game in straight sets. Noelle Niederman and Holland Jackson won their matchup 21-13, 21-13, followed by Teagan Wilson/Sammy Wood winning the No. 2 spot 21-12, 21-5. Callie Loughran and Ciara Cantlen won in the No. 3 spot with a 21-8, 21-8 victory and Alexandra Urbina/Hayley Hahn defeated the Tigers 21-13, 21-18. Finally, Ava Stoddard and Kawena Chillingworth won 21-9, 21-8.
