SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer goalkeeper
Jackson Ozburn was named West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week after posting a shutout and recording eight saves over two games this past week.
Against Sacramento State on Sunday, Ozburn made three saves in the Broncos 3-0 shutout victory. With the SCU up 1-0 in the first half, his best save of the game came on a shot from Zac Giles where he got his hand on the ball to deflect it off the post to preserve the one goal lead. It was his first shutout of the season and second of his career.
The Bronco senior made a season-high five saves in the 2-1 loss to No. 4 Stanford on Thursday, a game Santa Clara led 1-0 at the half.
The 6-foot-3 senior has a 1-1-2 record on the season with a 1.00 goals-against-average.
This is the first conference Player of the Week honor for Ozburn.
The Broncos next play at San Diego State on Friday.
