Kim Ties Program Record to Finish Runner-Up at San Diego State Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Santa Clara women's golf's Kelsey Kim started the spring season much like she closed out the fall — with a top-three finish in record-breaking fashion. The junior shot a 5-under 67 in Tuesday's final round of the San Diego State Classic to tie the program record for lowest 18-hole score and move up six spots in the standings to claim runner-up honors with a career-best 6-under 210. En route to the finish, Kim also broke both the single-season and career program records for rounds under par with 10 and 19, respectively.

Santa Clara finished third overall, using a 2-over 290 final round at the par-72 Bernardo Heights Country Club to move ahead of Sacramento State, Oregon State and UC Davis with a 54-hole total of 11-over 875. The Broncos have now finished in the top four of all five events they've played in 2025-26, including four top-three finishes.

HIGHLIGHTS
• Kim's final round featured seven birdies against two bogeys. She finished 6-under (69-74-67—210) and has now posted scores of 5-under or better in three consecutive tournaments.
• Kim surpassed Sarah Busey's 2018-19 total of nine rounds under par for the most in a single season in program history. At least five events remain on the schedule this year for her to tack on to her record.
• Kim also moved past Annie Freman's career total of 17 rounds under par for the program record.
Amy Im made her season debut after not competing in the fall and finished tied for 11th at 1-over (72-71-74—217), matching her career-best to-par finish (2025 Silicon Valley Showcase — 214 [+1]).
Chloe Lam (7-over 223) placed 24th, while Alexa Pineda (10-over 226) and Audrey Brust (13-over 229) finished tied for 32nd and 42nd, respectively.
• No. 42 Cal State Fullerton claimed the team title as the only team to finish under par. The Titans posted a three-round total of 12-under 852, 20 shots ahead of second-place UC Irvine (872).
• Santa Clara's 290 was the second-best team round of the day behind Fullerton (283).
• Fullerton's Katharina Zellinger completed a wire-to-wire victory, finishing three shots ahead of Kim at 9-under 207 to earn medalist honors.
