FAIRFIELD, Calif. - Santa Clara women's golf had a solid start to the 2026 WCC Championship, turning in a 9-over 297 in Saturday's opening round at the par 72, 6,174-yard Green Hills Country Club to finish the day in third place and within striking distance of leaders No. 10 Pepperdine (286) and No. 48 Oregon State (290). Kelsey Kim led the charge individually with a 2-under 70 to put herself in a tie for second.
ROUND HIGHLIGHTS:
- Kim was one of just five players among the field of 46 that shot under par for the day. Her total of 2-under 70 is tied for the second-lowest by a Bronco in the WCC Championship in school history (Amy Im in 2025).
- Kim had four birdies on the day to counter a double-bogey on No. 11. It was her 15th round under par on the season and the 24th of her career - both are program records.
- Kim is just two strokes behind the leader - Oregon State's Raya Nakao (68), and tied with Pepperdine's Kylee Choi.
- Chloe Lam is also inside the top 15 with a 2-over 74 where she is tied for 13th and just a stroke outside of the top 10.
- Alexa Pineda shot 3-over 75 to put herself in a tie for 22nd while Audrey Brust is tied for 29th at 6-over 78.
- Brust played her 124th career round as a Bronco, breaking a tie with Annie Freman for the most in program history.
