SAN FRANCISCO — The Santa Clara University men's track team closed its regular season Saturday with three event wins and several front-pack finishes at the West Coast Last Chance Meet at San Francisco State's Cox Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ben Pinkel led Santa Clara in the 800 meters, winning the event in 1 minute, 49.34 seconds. Connor Rickey added a fifth-place finish in a personal-best 1:52.89, moving to ninth all-time in Santa Clara history. Andrew Ho placed eighth in 1:54.17, and Evan Charkut finished 11th in 1:54.87. Coen Strub and Nico Trepanier also raced for the Broncos in the event.

- The Broncos had two runners place among the top three of the 1,500 meters. Liam Papavasiliou finished second in 3:46.56, and Jack Tolbert followed in third with a time of 3:48.23. Eric Ortega-Gammill added a ninth-place finish in 3:53.39, while Zafer Courcelle, Jack Tobin, Charkut, McCoy Brooks, Trepanier and Rickey all finished inside the top-22.

- Daniel Trampe gave Santa Clara another event win in the 5,000 meters, crossing first in 14:41.65. Will Carroll placed fourth in 14:48.33, while James Ponzio took eighth in 15:10.27 and Jack Kyle finished 12th in 15:11.59.

- Strub added the Broncos' third event win of the meet in the 400 meters, running 50.07 to edge Craig Cox of City Speed SF by two hundredths of a second.

- Daniel Vaca finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking 8:55.79.

- Santa Clara now waits to see if any of its student-athletes qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships West Region Preliminary Meet. Announcements are made on Thursday.
