SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO - Santa Clara men's golfer
Muzzy Donohue has been named the West Coast Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for the month of January after a fantastic outing in the Broncos' spring opener in Arizona. The league office made the announcement on Tuesday.
Donohue shot a career-low 14-under 70-66-66--202 at the Arizona N.I.T. to finish in a tie for seventh. The 54-hole total was not only his career best, but also the lowest by any Bronco since Matt McCarty turned in a 13-under 200 in 2019. The St. Paul, Minn., product tallied 13 combined birdies over the final two rounds of action as part of his fourth and fifth rounds in the 60s for the year.
"Muzzy has earned this through hard work and an amazing commitment to improving his craft," head coach
Andrew Larkin said. "We are proud of Muzzy and know it is just the start of a big spring to come."
Donohue is the first Bronco to win WCC Golfer of the Month honors since McCarty took home the award for the month of March in 2018.
The Broncos return to the links Feb. 26-28 at the Las Vegas Shootout in Henderson, Nev.
