SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -
Caroline Gray has been named the
West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week after her first two matches with Santa Clara women's soccer.
Gray helped the Broncos to wins over San Jose State and Cal in the opening weekend of the season. The Notre Dame transfer played all 180 minutes on the back line while anchoring a defense that allowed no goals in the run of play. The lone tally came on a penalty kick in the second half for the Bears.
The Broncos are off to a 2-0 start for the second season in a row. They will look to keep their winning streak alive with a trip to Southern California this week to play Long Beach State Thursday and No. 11 UCLA Sunday.
