SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara women's soccer has added two more players to its 2026 roster. Swedish freshman Lovisa Yng and George Washington Transfer Aoi Kataoka are the newest members of the Broncos.

Lovisa Yng | 5-6 | Midfield | Malmo, Sweden | FC Rosengard
Yng played professionally in Sweden with FC Rosengard. She helped her team win the F19 Elite League and finish third in the national playoffs and played in a FIFA Tournament in Switzerland twice, finishing in third place during her first experience.
Yng played for FC Rosengard's youth academy from the age of 13. Prior to that, she played for Ronneby BK.
Yng also has experience with the Swedish Youth National Team and was was called up to the U15 and U17 training camps as well as regional camps at the U17 level.
Her team finished second in the National Regional Cup where she represented Skane and reached the final match against Stockholm.
At her high school ProCivitas Privata Gymnasium Yng was named the Student-Athlete of the Year.
"Lovisa is an amateur playing on a great pro team. She has no weaknesses in her game and has all the tools. She's tactically aware and very skillful with a lot of experience. She'll be a great midfielder that helps us keep the ball.," Smith said.
Aoi Kataoka | 5-3 | Midfield | Paramus, N.J. | George Washington
Kataoka was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team in 2022 when she scored one goal and had three assists. As a sophomore, she started 14 matches and tallied two goals to go with nine assists. The nine assists led the team.
Last season Kataoka appeared in four matches after missing the 2024 season due to an injury.
Kataoka was selected for the U.S. Soccer Training Center/YNT Identification Center. She also played for U15 NYFC Girls Academy.
"Aoi is a hard worker that covers a lot of ground and has really good acceleration as a. She's been plagued by injuries the last couple of years but she's a difference maker as a midfielder when she's been healthy," Santa Clara head coach Jerry Smith said.
