SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's soccer program had four student-athletes -
Niv Berkovitz,
Pierce Dyal,
Quinn Garrett and
Will Wiersdorf - named to the
College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025-26 Academic All-District® team on Tuesday. CSC selected the Academic All-District® team to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
To be considered, the academic eligibility minimums include for an undergraduate student-athlete with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), which may not be rounded up and for a graduate student-athlete, carry at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA. The athletic eligibility minimums include having competed in at least 90-percent of the team's total games played or have started at least 66-percent of the team's total games played.
Berkovitz has a GPA of 3.8 and better at both his previous school, SMU, and also at Santa Clara while majoring in finance. This fall, the junior led the team with 16 points while starting in all 15 games he appeared in and was recognized with All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention honors. He tied for the team lead with six goals and was tied for second in assists with four. Three of the goals were game winners including against Portland that snapped their 23-game unbeaten streak. The midfielder from Hod Hasharon, Israel had three multi-point games including a pair of games where he scored a brace and had a three assist game.
Dyal has a 3.700 GPA majoring in economics. He started in all 18 games this season and logged 1,240 minutes. The senior midfielder from Los Gatos, California had two assists on the year including on the game-winning goal against UNLV (Sept. 14). He was named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Garrett has a 3.896 GPA. He started in 16 of the 17 games he appeared in and saw 1,318 minutes of action. The defender from Encinitas, California played the full 90 minutes in 12 matches. He was also named WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention.
Wiersdorf has a 3.800 GPA majoring in communication and was named All-WCC Second Team and WCC All-Academic First Team. The junior midfielder started in all 18 games and finished tied for the team-high with six goals. The Danville, California native tallied three assists on the year while logging the second most minutes on the team with 1,574.
