Bal Selected to Participate in Portsmouth Invitational Tournament

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara standout senior guard Adama-Alpha Bal has been selected to participate in the 71st edition of the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT), a four-day showcase designed for college basketball seniors, in Portsmouth, Va., April 16-19.

The PIT is the nation's oldest amateur basketball tournament and is one of only two NBA pre-draft camps. It is open to 64 college seniors that make up eight teams, who each will get the chance to play three games in front of professional scouts. Several players who have played in this tournament have gone on to have brilliant NBA careers including Tim Hardaway, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, John Stockton, Jimmy Butler, and Jeremy Lin.

Bal will play for the team sponsored by Portsmouth Sports Club alongside Moussa Cisse (Memphis), Andrew Carr (Kentucky), Cameron Matthews (Mississippi State), Joe Bamisile (VCU), Chance McMillan (Texas Tech), Earl Timberlake (Bryant), and Chucky Hepburn (Louisville). He is one of just three WCC players selected to participate in the event along with Gonzaga's Nolan Hickman and Khalif Battle.

Bal is coming off his second straight First Team All-WCC selection with the Broncos after leading the team with 12.9 ppg (18th in WCC) and 3.0 assists per game (12th in WCC). He tied for the team lead with 22 games in double figures scoring and was tied for fourth in the WCC with 69 made three pointers. He compiled four 20 point outings this season including a season high 27 points on his 21st birthday knocking down a career high six three pointers against Kennesaw State (12/18). He scored 20 points in the second half-alone in the Broncos victory at No. 16 Gonzaga (1/18), and dished out a season best eight assists to go along with 19 points against Pepperdine (12/28).

Bal will make his debut with the Portsmouth Sports Club on Thursday, April 17, at 4:00 p.m. PT. Live stats will be available on statbroadcast and all games will be streamed on PrepSpin+.
