SANTA MONICA, Calif.- The Santa Clara women's beach volleyball team defeated USF 5-0 and then fell to #4 LMU by the same score Thursday in the first day of the 2025 WCC Beach Volleyball Tournament in Santa Monica, Calif.

The Broncos defeated USF 5-0 in their first match of the day. Noelle Niederman and Holland Jackon started things out with a three set thriller, winning 18-21, 21-15, 15-12, and two set sweeps from Sammy Wood/Sadie Snipes and Ciara Cantlen/Alexandra Urbina secured the victory. Kawena Chillingworth/Teagan Wilson also swept the Dons in straight sets while another tough three set victory from Callie Loughran/Ava Stoddard in the No. 5 spot secured the shutout.

The Broncos fell to LMU 5-0 in the second match of the day. After dropping the No. 1 spot, Sadie Snipes/Sammy Wood kept it close in the No. 2 spot falling 21-19, 21-12. Ciara Cantlen/Alexandra Urbina fell 21-11, 21-13 in the No. 3 spot, and the Broncos lost in straight sets in the final two pairings falling to a competitive nationally ranked LMU team in a shutout 5-0.

The Broncos will start the second day of the 2025 WCC Beach Volleyball Tournament at 8:30am against USF again. If they advance, they will play Saint Mary's at 11 a.m. for a spot in the third place game.
