SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men’s basketball (19-5, 10-1) will look to extend its six-game win streak Wednesday, Feb. 4, with a short road trip to Stockton to face Pacific (15-9, 6-5) at Alex G. Spanos Center. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT, with live coverage on ESPN+ featuring Zack Bayrouty and Kat Tudor on the call.
THE OPPONENT
Pacific enters Wednesday’s game tied for fourth in the WCC standings at 6-5 in league play. Led by second-year head coach Dave Smart, the Tigers are 15-9 overall and are a perfect 10-0 inside Alex G. Spanos Center, including conference wins over Oregon State (84-53), Pepperdine (74-69), San Diego (77-70), Seattle (56-54) and Portland (74-51). They are averaging 75.1 points per game and have the WCC’s fourth-best scoring defense at 68.6 points allowed. Elias Ralph is the Tigers’ top scorer (16.7) and rebounder (6.6), and ranks sixth in the WCC in scoring in league games at 16.2 points per outing.
SERIES HISTORY VS. PACIFIC
Santa Clara owns a 109-47 advantage all-time in the series dating back to 1905, including an 85-69 triumph earlier this year in Leavey Center. The Broncos are 38-25 all-time in games played in Stockton, have taken nine of the last 10 in the series, and have a four-game win streak in Alex G. Spanos Center. SCU’s last road loss to the Tigers came on Jan. 14, 2021 (58-79).
LAST TIME AGAINST THE TIGERS
Pacific gave the Broncos all they could handle in the first half, but a big 18-3 surge early in the second half gave Santa Clara the breathing room they needed to hold off the Tigers for an 85-69 victory at Leavey Center. Three Broncos scored 15 or more with Christian Hammond leading the charge with 18 points. Allen Graves flirted with a double-double (17 points, 8 rebounds) and Elijah Mahi logged 14 points and seven rebounds in the victory.
LAST TIME OUT
The Broncos were firing on all cylinders in a 104-73 rout at LMU to complete the regular-season sweep against the Lions. The 104 points are SCU’s most this season and most since dropping 109 at Washington State last year. Five Broncos reached double figure scoring for the first time since Dec. 28, 2025 at Oregon State with senior Brenton Knapper leading the charge with a career-best 22 points. Allen Graves posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds while fellow freshman KJ Cochran also logged a new career-best with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting. SCU’s two-leading scorers, Christian Hammond and Elijah Mahi, each contributed 12 points in the victory. Santa Clara forced 22 turnovers resulting in 28 points and connected on 12 treys.
FIVE STRAIGHT WITH 10 OR MORE
Santa Clara has recorded double digit conference victories for the fifth-straight season, extending their program record that began back in 2021-22. With seven opportunities remaining, the Broncos will next set their sights on tying the program record of 13 wins set in 1967-68 and 1968-69.
BEST START SINCE THE NASH ERA
The Broncos are off to a 10-1 start in conference play with their lone blemish coming on the road against No. 8 Gonzaga, and sit at 19-5 overall. Both of those records stand as their best starts since the 1994-95 campaign when Santa Clara was 21-5 overall in the regular season and finished 12-2 in conference play to capture the WCC regular-season title. That team, led by Dick Davey, Steve Nash and company, was the second of three squads to play in the NCAA Tournament over a four-year stretch from 1993-96.
ON A STREAK
Santa Clara is currently riding a six-game win streak - their longest in conference play since winning their final seven WCC games to close out the 2022-23 season.
RECEIVING VOTES
Santa Clara is once again receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 Poll (Feb. 2). It is the second time this year that they have done so after receiving three votes in the Nov. 24th edition. The Broncos have not been ranked inside the Top 25 since the 1995-96 season when they reached as high as No. 22 in the poll.
LOOKING FOR NO. 20
Santa Clara is one win shy of reaching the 20-win marker for the fifth-consecutive season. Excluding the 2020-21 campaign in which SCU only played in 20 games total, that streak extends to six consecutive seasons. Prior to this stretch, the Broncos had never won 20-plus games in more than three-consecutive seasons at a time, doing so in both 1968-70 and 1983-85.
TURNING HEADS IN LEAGUE PLAY
Santa Clara is 10–1 in conference play and has done so in dominant fashion. The Broncos rank third nationally in average margin of victory in league games at plus-17.5 and lead the WCC in scoring at 88.9 points per game, which ranks second nationally. SCU is shooting a league-best 50.8 percent from the field and also leads the WCC in assists (16.6), 3PT per game (10.4) and steals (10.45).
IN THE NET RANKINGS
Santa Clara currently ranks 43rd in the NET rankings, which is third-best in the WCC behind Gonzaga (4) and Saint Mary’s (32).
ANOTHER FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK NOD FOR GRAVES
Allen Graves is the reigning WCC Freshman of the Week after posting 14 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 assists in the wins over San Francisco and LMU. It is the third time the big man has won the award this season, tying for the second-most a Bronco has won either Player of Freshman of the Week honors in a single season. He is just one award shy of tying Brandin Podziemski’s program record of four Player of the Week nods set in 2022-23.
DYNAMIC DUO
Christian Hammond (16.8) and Elijah Mahi (14.3) are one of two duos that rank inside the top 10 in the WCC in scoring joining Gonzaga’s Braden Huff and Graham Ike.
They are the only duo to also rank top 10 in league play with Hammond ranking seventh (16.2) and Mahi currently 10th at 14.3 points.
