SANTA CLARA, Calif. -  Santa Clara softball played a solid all-around game to blank Dartmouth 5-0 on Wednesday to close out the nine-game homestand with a 7-2 record.

Sage Hager and Hannah Edwards combined for a four-hit shutout, the offense banged out nine hits and the defense did not commit an error to help Santa Clara improve to 15-13 on the year.  

Hager (7-3) started in the circle and allowed just two base runners, on a hit and a hit by a pitch, before giving way to Edwards to start the fifth to earn her sixth-straight victory.  Edwards gave up three hits and a walk over the final three frames to earn her first save of the year.  

Emma Bickford went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI while Ashley Trierweiler reached base three times on a pair of singles and a walk.  

Santa Clara opened the scoring in the second when Lauren LaHood drew a leadoff walk from Dartmouth (3-7) starter Rachel McCarroll, stole second and moved to third on Regan Dias' single.  Hazyl Gray then laid down a sacrifice bunt to plate LaHood to put the Broncos up 1-0.  

In the third, Bickford doubled home Trierweiler who started the inning with a single.  Bickford would later score on an error that pushed the Broncos lead to 3-0. 

Trierweiler added an RBI single in the fourth and Ella Romero hit an RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth for the final runs of the game.  

McCarroll gave up four runs on six hits and two walks over 3 2/3 innings to take the loss.
