SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer added another member to its 2024 recruiting class, signing Baronyi Kengeye, a prolific scoring forward from the University of West Alabama who was named Third Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches last season.
Kengeye scored 11 goals in 15 games for the Tigers including five game winners to become just the third All-American selection in West Alabama program history.
"I chose Santa Clara because this is where I needed to be," said Kengeye.
The Kasulu, Tanzania native was named first team All-Region by both the United Soccer Coaches and Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association. He was also recognized as first team All-Gulf South Conference and GSC Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in goals.
Kengeye finished with 14 goals total in his two seasons at West Alabama and will have two years of eligibility remaining with Santa Clara.
"We are very excited to add Baronyi to our squad for next year," said Broncos head coach Cam Rast. "He comes with important qualities we are looking for in our squad, particularly his ability to hold up the ball and score goals. He is already working hard and learning what it takes to play at this level. There will be an adjustment but his arrival in the winter term will have him ready for this fall."
Back in December, the
Broncos signed three players to National Letters of Intent.
