SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis program signed Jamie Pope, a transfer from Saint Mary's College, for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Pope will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Broncos.
"My decision to transfer to Santa Clara University is motivated by the institution's commitment to academic excellence as well my goal to continue competing in collegiate tennis at the Division I level," said Pope. "Santa Clara's reputation for its prestigious business program aligns perfectly with my desire to learn and excel in marketing. I am also extremely excited to play D-I tennis under the coaching of Allie Will and
Connor Van Alstyne. Having played for coach Allie while she was an assistant coach at Saint Mary's, I have firsthand experience with her incredible coaching knowledge and techniques, as well as an understanding of how much she cares about her players. I am eager to play for coaches that will help me grow and develop not only as a player on the court, but also as a person off the court. I am thrilled to be a part of the Bronco community."
In 2023, Pope was a West Coast Conference All-Academic honorable mention, a WCC Commissioner's honor roll gold honors member and an ITA Scholar-Athlete. She was also part of the Saint Mary's Athletic Director honor roll for having a top-10 grade point average among all student-athletes.
A two year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, she was elected SAAC vice president.
Pope hails from Napa, California where she starred at Vintage High School, winning the school's first ever North Coast Section singles championship her senior season. She was top 20 in the USTA Northern California rankings and No. 55 on Tennis Recruiting Hot 100 list for all girls of all ages across the country.
"Our Bronco family would like to extend a warm welcome to Jamie," said Broncos head coach Allie Will. "She is a dedicated student and a wonderful player who will always give her best. We are lucky to have such a bright, hardworking young lady joining our team this fall. Go Broncos!,"
Pope is the sixth signee in the 2024 recruiting class.
