Jack Murphy Promoted to Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach and Manager of Operations

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's soccer has promoted Jack Murphy as an assistant coach and manager of operations after serving last season as a graduate assistant with the program.

Murphy played three seasons for the Broncos from 2020 – 22 after transferring from Fordham University.  In 2021, he helped lead Santa Clara to an outright West Coast Conference championship and to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

"First off, I'd like to express my extreme gratitude to everyone in men's soccer and at the University who played a role in turning this opportunity into reality," said Murphy.  "The time I've spent at Santa Clara, both as a player and graduate assistant, has made it extremely clear that there is no other place I'd rather be. I am both honored, and excited, to get to work day in and day out with this exceptional group of players and experienced staff. I can't wait to get this season started.  Let's go Broncos!"

The San Jose, California native received his bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in entrepreneurship in 2022 before embarking on his coaching career.

Last season, Murphy helped with video analysis, breaking down film from trainings and games.

Murphy's collegiate playing career encompassed a two year stint at Fordham where he appeared in 17 games and was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in 2018.  He was also a two-time WCC All-Academic honoree during his time on the Mission Campus.

He tallied his first point as a Bronco against Dixie State during the 2021 championship season run, with the game-winning goal and an assist.  And against San Francisco that season, he assisted in the game-winning goal by Oladayo Thomas.

The coaching bloodline runs in the family as Murphy's father, Gregg, is the current Santa Clara women's associate head coach.
