DAVIS, Calif.- The Santa Clara women's beach volleyball team (1-3) dropped both matches on the final day of the UC Davis Invite, falling 3-2 to Utah and UC Davis on Sunday. Both games came down to the final match, however, the Broncos came up just short.

vs. Utah

The Broncos found themselves in a hole after dropping the first two pairings against Utah, but a sweep from Noelle Niederman and Ciara Cantlen at the No. 3 spot gave them life. A come from behind victory at the No. 5 spot from Ava Stoddard and Kawena Chillingworth tied it up at 2-2, but the Broncos were unable to get the final point as Hayley Hahn and Teagan Wilson fell at the No. 4 spot.

5. Ava Stoddard and Kawena Chillingworth (SCU) def. Sonja Wessell and Elly Collins (Utah) 13-21, 23-21, 15-10.

vs. UC Davis

The Broncos came up one win short against the Aggies for the second time in two days. This time, after falling in the No. 1 pairing, Sadie Snipes and Sammy Wood clinched the sweep in the No. 2 spot. After pair three, the Broncos again found themselves down 2-1, but this time Teagan Wilson and Sveva Munneke clutched up, evening the match 2-2 heading into the final game. After winning yesterday, Ava Stoddard and Kawena Chillingworth took the Aggies, to a fifth set, but ultimately were unable to come out on top, giving the Broncos the heartbreaking defeat for the second time in two days.

The Broncos travel to San Jose Calif. for the Battle of the Bay for a matchup against USF Friday at Noon, and against host school San Jose State at 2 p.m, before traveling to Stanford for matchups with Pacific (Saturday at Noon) and the hosting Cardinal (Saturday at 2 p.m.).
