Bruce Bochte was a first baseman and left fielder for the Broncos baseball team during his time at Santa Clara. After graduation, he began a successful Major League Baseball career when he was drafted by the California Angels. After being traded to the Oakland Athletics in 1972, Bochte was selected to the American League All-Star team in 1979.
