Dennis Awtrey won the WCC Player of the Year in 1969 and 1970. 72-12 as a starter, Awtrey guided the Broncos to the NCAA tournament three straight years, and reached the Regional Finals for two of those three years. His 19.9 points and 13.5 rebounds per game averages, are the most in Santa Clara history. In addition to these accomplishments, Awtrey made Academic All-American First Team each year of his Bronco career. After his years at SCU, he was drafted into the NBA by the Philadelphia 76ers and spent 12 years in the league. In 1979, Awtrey won an NBA title with the Seattle Supersonics.
