Leonard was a standout offensive lineman for the Broncos in the late 70’s. He was drafted to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 7th round of the 1980 NFL Draft. He played three seasons with Tampa before spending a year with the Oakland Invaders (USFL). Leonard then finished his career splitting a season between the San Francisco 49er’s and the San Diego Chargers. Leonardo was inducted into the Santa Clara Hall of Fame in 1998.
