Santa Clara Athletics Hall of Fame
Russ Vrankovich stepped on the court for Santa Clara in 1961. Vrankovich won 41 games during his three seasons as a Bronco. He was a great player for coaches Bob Feerick and Dick Garibaldi. Vrankovich’s senior season was one of the best in school history. He averaged 22.5 points per game, ranking first in Santa Clara history for a single season. In the same season, he also put up a whopping 44 points vs. Pepperdine University. Vrankovich’s name in the record books is not just below points, as he is in the Santa Clara’s record books for free throw percentages, points in a season season, field goals attempted, and free throw percentage.
